Man, that was a great article. I'd been wondering what he wound up doing, and it sounds like he's doing pretty darn well for himself. Thank you for posting that.

Myron Rolle was not an elite college safety, he was above average at best.

To suggest that he's being blackballed from the NFL because he's smart makes as much sense as someone suggesting Tebow was blackballed due to his faith.

Pat Haden was a Rhodes Scholar, and Reggie White was an ordained minister. Both had NFL talent. Rolle does not.

If the NFL kept him out, hopefully they did so as a favor to the world. Though football pays you a lot, it's hardly contributing to the world in a meaningful way. It helps the economy but it also lines the pocket of billionaire owners and millionaire athletes who are paid more money then they should ever need. Though, there are exceptions... Mike Tyson, Allen Iverson, Antoine Walker etc... bunch of dumbasses. The league may see it as, he's so smart that he's better off using his brain to help the world as opposed to launching his head into opponents for future alzheimers. It's his choice on what he wants to do and the Florida dude above me is probably right, I doubt the NFL would keep him out. But, if they did... Myron Rolle is capable of contributing a lot more to society than making tackles. Would suck that it prevented him from making millions but who knows, maybe he'll make millions anyways. He's young and apparently brilliant.

Pretty sad that players viewed him as a nerd. Like, what do they want him to be? A thug that talks like a moron? There is nothing wrong with exercising your mind. In fact, it should be encouraged rather than frowned upon. Anyone who views it as a negative probably does so because they're an f'n moron.

Anyways... Rolle is bad to the bone. Some of those players take the easiest classes possible just to stay academically eligible and still can't pass em'. Rolle padded a bunch of insane courses on top of football and still passed with flying colors. Dude is a beast.

Ray Nitschke was a Minister also.

The implications of the article that he has been blacklisted are a bit silly.

Whether the guy was blacklisted or not, his story is great!! He will obviously be successful no matter what he does in life. Great job by his parents for being so involved.

Exactly. That's what I liked most about this piece. For what he did and how he did it is just awesome.

Rod Wilkes was Myron Rolle's tutor.

Myron might be a tad bit smarter than Rod...?

Wash out your filthy mouth Jax_Vol. After inventing Special Relativity while at UT, Rod Wilkes used it to invent a time machine to go back and explain Special Relativity to Einstein so that the theory would be readily available so that the next incarnation of Rod would be able to invent a time machine before he entered preschool. The young Rod Wilkes then traveled back in time to lead the 300 at the Battle of Thermopylae with him being the only one to survive of course.
