Oh what could have been

Looks like Reese Phillips, from Signal Mountain, TN, is competing for the QB job at UK. Could be the next in line to make our ability to assess local QB talent look bad. Of course, I haven't heard anything from Voytik, the Cleveland kid who many thought we should take.

Voytik is slated to be the starter this year at Pitt

Chad Voytik is the likely starter for Pitt this season. He played the second half of the bowl game last season when Savage got hurt and led the team to a win. He's a talented player, but only 6' 1", so many schools shied away.

Same with Reese Phillips at 6' 2" and was rated a 3* probably around 25th ranked player in TN.

Stoops sounded like Phillips may win the job at UK this year.

Exactly. You would think that with all the success of shorter QBs all the way up to SB winners that the stereotype would go away. Especially with all of the spread offenses that provide for QB mobility. Seems to me that Wilson and Brees and Manziel (in college) and so on have proven the point. Even Steve Young for the 49ers was 6' 2" as a mobile QB and is wearing a couple of rings.

There's been a lot of whiffs since Bray, and he wasn't all he should have been.

Hope we get an elite QB soon.

Add him to the list:

Bo Wallace
Tahj Boyd
Bryce Petty
Patton Robinette
Nick Stephens
Torrance Gibson
....

How old are Peyton's kids?

Just get one that can hit a 15 yard out, with the talent we got the rest will take care of it self, just get the ball in there hands, they can turn a 15 yard pass into a 80 yard TD.

You could arguably add BJ Coleman to that list, who went on the make the Green Bay Packers roster as 3rd string for a couple of seasons.

The same was said about Bray, Worley, Peterman, Dobbs, etc., etc.

Bray was elite.

Give him the drive and hard work attitude of Peyton Manning and Bray goes easily top 5 in draft and future NFL superstar.

Bray might have had a better arm than Peyton.

Not one quarterback named in this thread would be a starter here except maybe Wallace. Wallace and Worley are about on the same level. The other 2 aren't the players we need to become a good team. Wallace isn't what we need to become a championship team

It's not even close. If Manning had Bray's arm talent, he would be the all-time undisputed QB.

That's like saying that Gregg Maddux would have been a better pitcher if he had Nolan Ryan's arm strength...He has more than what he needs to play the game the way he does. Would Manning have thrown more than 55 TD passes and 5,400 yards last season with a stronger arm? Unlikely.

Only if he were throwing to WRs in the parking lot...but then they'd be out of bounds; so no.

List of what? Bo Wallace signed with Arkansas State, Patton Robinette with Vanderbilt, Nick Stephens starred at Tarleton State after leaving UT. Torrace Gibson is still in high school. Tahj Boyd and Bryce Petty are the two misses but even if they had both signed one of them would have transferred since they were in the same class. We traded Boyd for Bray it's not like we traded Boyd for a scrub that lacked talent.

It's amazing that people are actually throwing out quarterbacks from Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Pittsburg and Tarleton State as guys we screwed up on.

Our current group of quarterbacks will look much better with the influx of talent and having another year in the system.
