Similarly, some years back the Vandy community went full retard because during some construction on campus an orange and white checkered flag was placed at the top of a crane. Even the media jumped on the slap in the face. It took someone with common sense to let them know it is a FAA regulation that any cranes have this flag at the top visible to pilots. They attempted to appeal to allow the flag to be black and gold but FAA gave them a big fat no. Once again, the orange and white looked down on the black and gold.
