| Georgia suspends (another) player Projected starting LB Chase Vasser received a 2 game suspension for a DUI incident in May, which the university is now confirming, per the AJC Notebook: Georgia confirms Chase Vasser’s May DUI arrest | UGA sports blog Quote:
Georgia had more offseason troubles than we originally thought.
Chase Vasser, a junior outside linebacker from Gainesville, was arrested for driving under the influence back in May in Atlanta, Georgia officials confirmed on Thursday. The 21-year-old projected starter has been suspended for the first two games of the season as per UGA’s student-athlete conduct code, team spokesman Claude Felton confirmed late Thursday evening.
No other information was immediately available on Vasser’s arrest, which occurred May 11 in Buckhead. However, the Athens Banner-Herald reports that Vasser has a scheduled court appearance on Aug. 21 at the City of Atlanta Municipal Court.
The suspension of Vasser, who is 21, makes him at least the fourth defensive starter expected to miss playing time for the Bulldogs this season. Cornerback Sanders Commings is already suspended two games for a January arrest on domestic violence charges. Cornerback Branden Smith, safety Bacarri Rambo and inside linebacker Alec Ogletree are also facing suspensions for team rules violations but Georgia has not announced their punishments.
Meanwhile, four other Georgia players have been dismissed since the end of last season. Starting tailback Isaiah Crowell was arrested on June 29 on three weapons charges and kicked off the team that same day. Defensive backs Nick Marshall and Chris Sanders and wide receiver Sanford Seay were dismissed in early February for their involvement in the theft of a teammates’ dorm room.
|
note though: this was from 2 days before word on the decision on Branden Smith was announced by the school.

| Appears Richt realizes he can't win the east this year, he is determined to win the 2012 Fulmer Cup. |

| Georgia is still going to go Undefeated this year. Why SEC do you keep giving these clowns such a Easy schedule every year? They don't deserve it!!!!!!! |

Your posts are starting to make sense. Must be a Georgia fan.
If not, you're the only non-Georgia fan that thinks going undefeated is probable and on of the only Tennessee fans saying "Yeah, we're definitely going to lose to Georgia".
But sure... Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida, Missouri and Georgia Tech may as well just forfeit their games I guess since they apparently have no shot in your mind. They only beat Vandy by 5 last year.
Not sure why you think they're going undefeated just because of their out of conference schedule. Prior to last season, they lost to Colorado, Miss St and UCF. That schedule worked out well for them.
Chalking up Georgia to go undefeated makes sense though... |

| I honestly believe they will lose to Auburn this year. If either us, USCe, or UF beat them it wouldn't be that shocking. Unfortunately I think they still win the east though with their schedule which isn't too much easier than ours. I can't stand them but us and UF being down really has been what has made their schedule look easier. |

| Richt is Phil Fulmer Jr. (without a Nat'l. Championship). He'll be out at GA within 2 years... |

Having said that I hope Richt does just enough to keep his job for years to come. |

I don't understand why some people here want him fired. |

| Vasser should have been given a longer suspension IMO, DUI is a serious offense. This will cost him some playing time throughout the season, his starting spot might get taken by a true freshman. |

| | Member | Does 2 games for a DUI seem low? My UGA buddies were foaming at mouth (as dawgs do) when colquitt only got five games. As was John Adams. |
