When it is 5 on 1 then it usually doesn't really matter who the 1 is. Could have started with a verbal altercation, but that doesn't mean Ball provoked anything.

just looked it up on the WSJ site...the attack opened almost across the street from one of my favorite bars in Madison, and while I was browisng the other articles...I found this gem

UW-Madison professor charged with exposing himself to student
