Which is more popular?

Watching the ESPN 30 for 30 special and the comment was made "this was during a time, and it's hard to explain this to people today, but this was during a time when college football was more popular than pro football..... and it was better".

I would argue that college football is very much the more dominant force in football overall (especially for me). What do yall think? Which is more popular?

The NFL is way more popular. It might be close here in SEC country but in the rest of the country the NFL wins by a lot.

IMO college is more popular here in the South, but the NFL is by far the preference of the country as a whole. The main reason for this I think is that college teams are the longstanding institutions that are passed down from generation to generation here in the south, whereas most pro teams in the southeast have been here for about a generation or two at the most.

It's been said, but NFL tv ratings absolutely crush college football for the most part.

It is regional though, SEC territory the college game is a bit bigger, but in the rest of the country it's the NFL by leaps and bounds.

Though up until the early 60's, college football was more popular and even had superior quality games and players.

A bit off topic, but is anybody here old enough to remember the Chicago College All Star Game?

College still has the superior quality of games IMO. The NFL sucks.

I meant in terms of talent on the field. In the early days, the best college football teams would wipe the floor with the best pro teams. Not the case anymore.

True. I was really speaking terms of the excitement of watching the games. NFL games, particularly in September and October are boring and largely meaningless.

It's funny, when you live in a bubble, your perspective is jaded.

Unfortunately (IMO) pro football is MUCH bigger than college football
