| | Senior Member | Regarding bowls, I think they need to change the rules.
They need to 1) increase the # of free tix for the schools, so the bands and players' families are all going for free, 2) stop mandating that the schools stay in a certain hotel at an astronomical rate, and 3) not force the schools to buy X amt of tix at regular price. If that causes some weaker bowls to die out, then great. Enough of schools being in the red to attend a bowl game. |

| | Senior Member | Milo, maybe you have more knowledge on the subject, but the part I don't understand is how teams can schedule in-season neutral site games and make money. Then, we get to the bowl games, and a third party cashes in, while the schools are in the red. Perhaps it's because said in-season games usually involve a couple of popular teams. My point is, basically, if they can stage in-season and conference title games without bowl committees, then why do they need these corporate groups for the postseason? Or are the Chick-Fil-A Classic and other in-season games run by the same cronies? There's also the fact that the rest of the league is sharing the bowl revenue, but the teams are also getting money from the bowls that their conference rivals play in. |

| | smh | Thats asking for a long winded post, which I can do late tonight or tomorrow morning when I'm next at a computer. Dan wetzel does an outstanding job writing about all that stuff, he has plenty of worthwhile articles online. |

| | Senior Member | Agreed. Wetzel analyzes the bowls nicely. But, while he has written a lot on Yahoo to show what's wrong with the bowls, I don't recall seeing much in the way of how to better stage them, other than perhaps a suggestion that the NCAA run them. I'm not sure if he ever said that though. |

The fact he's even trying to compare FBS and FCS football alone is idiotic.
