Freeze should be ahead of Dooley. He's done more in one year of FBS coaching than Dooley has in five.

My list:

1) Saban
2) Spurrier
3) Miles
4) Richt
5) Chizik
6) Pinkel
7) Mullen
8) Franklin
9) Sumlin
10) Muschamp
11) Freeze
12 A/B) Dooley and Phillips
14) Johnson

I dont remember Freeze having to play the #1, #2, #3, #10, #25 teams in his season at Arky State

All I know about Freeze is from the book about Orgeron.

He has no credible reason to be ahead of Dooley. Dooley's decent recruiting puts him out of the cellar.

You are mostly correct, but more specifically, it's not about the best program that is where most go wrong on this topic.

Bama easily has the best program right now in the SEC followed by LSU, and that is largely because of the their coaches. USC under Spurrier is an up and coming program in the SEC, but not the best.

Spurrier is the best coach in the SEC, Saban is the head coach at a program that is currently the best program in the SEC. There is a difference.
