Please move to around the NCAA forum.

| it said in baseball america that he graduated from nc state in 3 years and was released. the player can transfer without sitting out if he enrolls in a graduate program not offered by his undergrad school, but i'm not sure if that is what happened here. |

He has already received his degree from NC State. You can enroll at another graduate school if the original school does not offer the same kind of degree, and you don't have to sit out a year. Kind of like what Masoli did at Ole Miss last year. |

| Since i Go to NC State i can clear this up.. R.Wilson is a redshirt Sr. Before his last year, NC State coach Tom O'Brien got tired of his waiting game he plays every year between his choice to just play Pro Baseball or come back to State and win us an ACC chip.. So TOB released him, and he turned around and said he is going to play football this year after the release.. ON top of all of this Russ had already graduated last yr, so he wont have to sit out anytime.. I respect what R. Wilson did for my school (the school i go to not the one i LOVE) and hell i remember the spring game i went to and said " a 6'foot black kid playing QB at State will NEVER happen", only because fans here are Phillip Rivers crazy, and now he will play for someone else.. Good Luck Rus, Hope this helps whoever had questions.. |

| That clears it up. I didn't realize he had already graduated and was entering a masters program. Sounds just like the Masoli situation as UGA insider mentioned. Thanks guys.

| I'm glad he didn't go to the barn...I dunno if I could handle hearing the barners talk about how he's going to dominate just like Cam Newton.

| If you are granted a release, you are eligible immediately. As Goodolerkytop mentioned |

You're only eligible immediately if you've graduated, as others have mentioned, or if you have extenuating circumstances a la Tyler Smith. |

You can apply for a waiver from the NCAA to play immediately however.
If you've already graduated, you can play immediately if you enter a graduate program that isn't offered at the school you left. |
