reminds me of a TE from miami: i was all happy for him that he was being a leader even tho sitting out a year... til i read his quote from the end of the article

Meh, its just part of the language, and its been used for a long time, in describing football. Nothing meant by it, imo the feigned outrage is pretty stale.

Nearly every football player has used similar language. I don't think they're trying to take anything away from real soldiers.
