| UNC and/or DUKE to the SEC??? Talking to someone in the AD on Friday when the TAMU talk was at its height, he mentioned that there were "serious inquiries" on both sides of UNC and Duke coming to the SEC. If the SEC was looking to secure one to be the second team addition (in addition to TAMU) or to add all three and find a fourth later, he didn't know. That was on Friday and as it stands now the TAMU deal is dead. I'm doing some digging now that the dust has metaphorically settled but he has no other information--things seem to be at a standstill and all conferences are in the wait/see mode.
Should the SEC even be looking to UNC and/or Duke right now? They both would be great geographical and cultural fits. They would add two great BB programs and a UNC FB program that is going to be at the top of the now-ACC. The SEC would have the top BB and FB conferences, hands down, as well as other mid-level sports. Any news on this or is the SEC now content to just sit back and react to anything that happens down the road? |

| Ummm: I'm very skeptical of this. I can't imagine that duke and unc would have any interest in joining the sec. The ACC's basketball tradition is DEEP--and the idea that these two basketball powers would leave their longtime conference so that they could play hoops in starkville and baton rouge is funny. |

| After watching the dust settle (I think) of all of this, I am more convinced now the SEC needs to be in a proactive position of expansion though mode over the next 3 to 5 years instead of reactive as in many ways I feel we were this time around because it's going to happen again sooner rather than later.
If indeed that is the thought process then by all means the SEC should go after UNC/Duke on our eastern border and make another run at A&M and someone else in the west.
Just an IMO. |

| I'd say the rumors of UNC/Duke to the SEC were crap. UNC and Duke were both against the expansion of the ACC.

Rumors true or not I do not know. But if we're going to have a plan next time this happens, they need to be near the top of the list. |

| I think it would be a great addition to the SEC. The biggest rivalry in basketball couldn't hurt the conference, not to mention it wouldn't compete with UT football as much as some other options. But, "not happening".

Sooner or later the new Big 10 will flop or the old Big 10 will continue its expansion.
I have no idea whether UNC/Duke are interested in the SEC, but if they are we should keep wooing them because another shakeup is bound to happen. |
