...jam band kings the Grateful Dead have cast their patchouli-caked lot with Rock Band. The band that's the source of more bloodshot eyes than allergies and swimming pools combined will be giving up 18 tracks for download, including "Truckin'," "Uncle John's Band," "Touch of Grey," "Sugar Magnolia," and "Casey Jones."

Rock Band demo units are starting to appear at Best Buys now. No idea if the Knoxville store has it up, but it probably will soon if it's isn't already.

The demo has the bass drum removed on screen from what I've heard. Wanted folks to be able to play without sitting down and stomping on the pedal.

Thinking out loud here......... Say my wife plays guitar and I play bass. Will it allow you to jump in on mic or drums?

lol....you don't need to worry about me on the mic.

Seriously, I don't think the mic is available in online games. Otherwise, I think it could be you and her on guitar/bass while I take drums. Not 100% sure, but I was thinking this is how it works.

I know you can't do the world tour mode online, just offline, but jamming online in other modes should be possible.

I'm keeping the thing a surprise. I still haven't gone by Best Buy to see the demo unit and I've now decided to just wait till I get it home to try the new guitar and drums.
