That's basically what happened with Marcus Thomas. He worked the system to give himself a break, but they gave it to him with strict conditions. When he broke even the smallest rule (missed a single Tuesday night counseling session), they booted him.
I know you guys are going to say that UM treated him too lightly, but that is not consitent with the facts, at least as they relate to how he was ultimately dismissed. The school had to give the kid a chance and Meyer watched like a hawk, waited until he infringed on the rules in the slightest way, and immediatley dismissed him when he did.
I mean, if you were going to go through all these twists and turns to keep him on the team, why would you then dismiss him for missing a meeting? With the national title game still to come? Makes no sense.
