I think he improved a team that was in terrible disarray when he arrived. He got really hosed in the Culpepper-Brees QB debate. He took Culpepper, but that was largely because his doctors told him that Brees wasn't ready. The Phins were incredibly reliant on Ricky Williams. His last significant season in Miami he touched the ball on 75% of offensive snaps. Without him, that team took a serious plunge. I think in a couple more years Saban would have had that team going to the playoffs. If he were in the NFC, he probably would have gotten them there last year.
