The sad thing is the kid will probably be placed with a family member that doesn't want her and very likely isn't much different from the mother. I may be too judgmental but my mom worked for DCS for over 30 years and has way too many stories like this. Often the better situation is to place the kid in a foster home and find a good family to adopt. Easier said than done though.
