The biggest what-if pitching tragedy of my lifetime is still Dwight Gooden, who (that one game notwithstanding) was way more dominant his rookie year than Wood was. But Kerry Wood's gotta be second. |
My dad (who is not even a New York Met fan, by the way), just shakes his head in disgust when I bring up Gooden.
Also, JR Richard was a tragedy too. Gooden ruined his career. Richard was just screwed by the gods.
