He does not have to change how he talks/acts to do these. He just needs time. I think he will start to do this next year when he is comfotable with the program.
Honestly though, no coach with experience that has a winning record is boring to watch or listen to. And I think Martin can easily become one of those coaches that fans/media like. |
im pretty sure you dont see coach k entertaining people outside of winning games. i know for a fact calhoun doesnt i lived right by campus up there. they fire up the program by winning, give ccm time and he can too.
dont expect him to be a salesman like our previous coach was, im telling you that is not his style. look at as an ast at purdue or hc at miss st, this just isnt something he does. dont hold your breath on him getting out there and hyping up the program at every opportunity like pearl did.
you nailed it in your last statement. no coach with experience and a winning record is boring to listen to. thats why, they are winning coaches. if you wanted someone to speak at a banquet to entertain people coach k probably wouldnt be your guy. you would want someone like, gulp, cal. as you said no coach with a winning record is boring to listen to, but you have to give them a chance to get that winning record. when coach k was at army or first came to duke and had losing records you think he was fun to listen to? no! he stuck with his style though and now anyone in their right mind would love to listen to the man speak.
