We have no room for error -- we
absolutely cannot play poorly because the refs are not going to let UT win a game. We have to dominate to win.
Kentucky or Duke or most any other top 15 team will have the refs in their hip pocket in games like this. Unbelievably, we have the opposite effect. Charlotte actually has the refs in their hip pocket when they play us, just like most every team that get the fortune of having Cahill or Sirmons or Green call games involving UT.
We played like crap. We cannot do that when the refs will let guys tackle us without calling fouls.
Goins cannot miss free throws because two possessions before the refs are going to let Charlotte foul him mutliple times without calling it (before we are in the bonus). We cannot jack three after three after three because when the game comes down to it, the refs are going to let our opponent get away with murder.
Hugh Hewitt once wrote a book "If it isn't close, they can't cheat".
We simply cannot leave anything close. This team will get blown out at KY and Vandy because they are a helluva lot better than Charlotte and the refs will be the same, if not worse.
Time also to shorten the rotation. McBee and Pearl have got to get fewer minutes. Maymon should be getting major minutes at PF and Harris needs to get some minutes at SF with Pearl sitting. McBee is awful. He hits a 3 rarely and is a defensive liability.
The Pitt and Nova wins now mean nothing. We just gave the benefit of those back by losing to a terrible Charlotte team.
