Before all of this year's hirings, I believe LSU's OC Gary Crowton was the highest paid assistant coach in the SEC at $400k. And at least he's a coordinator. So to answer your question...It does surprise me how much we are willing to pay a d-line coach, even if he is a fantastic recruiter.
