You do realize that when someone says, say, "there is a 62% chance of X happening" and then X doesn't happen that doesn't mean anything was defied, right?
I mean read any article about last night's game, they all talk of the differences that led to the final result; like our usually absent rebounding, memphis' early 3 pt streak, etc. What makes these elements interesting is that they are not the norm. In order for that interest to develop, one needs a norm to deviate from. Numbers tell you what will likely happen, they also make no bones about the fact that 'likely' is far different from the word 'always'.
Ya know what did Memphis in? FT %.
