That’s right, today’s blog post is about a former Lady Vol basketball player. Why? I’m not sure any Lady Vol aside from Candace Parker has ever been the recipient of as much message board and blog chatter as Brittany Jackson [a quick search of the Volnation forums returned 92 threads].
The Lady Vols came out of the gate firing on Tuesday night. Shannon Bobbit hit a couple of early three pointers to put Tennessee up early and the outcome was never really in question.
The final: Tennessee 64 Stanford 48.
Exceptional pitching from the Commodores, that’s what we were supposed to see on Wednesday night. Instead, Tennessee proved that they have great pitching of their own.
That seems to be the consensus around the country – Candace Parker is hot. Not only did she make People magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful People list, we were told earlier this week that she is now engaged to be married – to Sheldon Williams no less.
Last week, it was announced that Candace Parker was going to be on the cover of a commemorative issue of Sports Illustrated celebrating the Lady Vols 7th National Championship.
Pat Summitt and the Lady Vols defeated Rutgers 59-46 to win their seventh National Championship. It’s the first since 1998.
As Candace Parker walked off the court on Sunday night, she looked to the large contingent of Tennessee fans in the arena and held up one finger.
