Notes from tonight’s game:
1. He’s still learning, but Chris Warren is going to be a really good SEC point guard.
2. Tennessee better rectify their reticence for rebounding by the 9th. Otherwise, they’re going to get slaughtered on the boards by Ole Miss.
3. The media room chicken sandwiches were surprisingly good.
4. Larry Eustachy called Andy Kennedy “the best young coach in the country” during his postgame press conference.
5. Ole Miss is having the same problems from the free throw line that are ailing Tennessee. Coach Kennedy called his team’s foul shooting “deflating” after the game.
6. Southern Mississippi is going to be really solid when they add some guys up front to compliment RL Horton and Jeremy Wise.
7. Eniel Polynice just keeps improving. He’s eventually going to be one of the best all around players in the SEC.
8. Andy Kennedy has said he models what he’s doing after the teams Bob Huggins had at Cincinnati. Having watched those UC teams religiously, he’s doing a good job of following the blueprint.
9. The DeSoto County Civic Center is actually a really nice basketball venue.
10. Both coaches spent a good portion of their postgame talking about how good that game was for basketball in Mississippi. It was a really crowd.
