Vols Fall Practice Day 1

Ainge

Fall practice has started! Can you feel it? Did you wake up Friday morning and feel a bit different? It was only the first practice and there were no pads but it’s exciting nonetheless.

The buzz word from practice today seems to be speed, on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Let’s hope those reports are accurate.

William Brimfield (#96) is an absolute beast. He is listed as 6-6 and 300 pounds. He really is huge.

There is a great summary that you should definitely check out . It stuck out to me that Qunitin Hancock was practicing with the first team over Josh Briscoe.

Anybody else tired of hearing about the 3-4 defense? We get it. The Vols are going to use it some this year. How much remains to be seen. I don’t understand why coaches and media need to keep reminding us of this. First off, most of us will believe it when we see it. Second, it’s not like the Vols staff invented that defense or something.

Erik Ainge was limping after practice but apparently it was just from his new shoes. Uh, don’t we have people for that? Can’t we get somebody to run around and break those in for him? In all seriousness, I don’t think I ever remember a player mentioning new shoes being an issue.

If you didn’t see it, the Vols are ranked 15th in the pre-season coaches poll. There are five SEC teams included in the top 15 including LSU, Florida, Georgia and Auburn.

Elsewhere, a guy that still seems to be a popular topic of conversation among fans, James Banks is back in the news and expected to practice for Carson Newman. How old is he now?
