Candace Parker is Hot

That seems to be the consensus around the country - Candace Parker is hot. Not only did she make People magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful People list, we were told earlier this week that she is now engaged to be married - to Sheldon Williams no less. Sheldon is a guy that many put in that “alien look-a-like” category right along side Sam Cassell.
So what gives? Sheldon Williams? Candace Parker getting hitched is the ultimate “retiring while on top” scenario, kind of like Michael Jordan (the first time) or Barry Sanders, but much much worse.
Right now Parker has it all. She’s hot, she can dunk, she will be playing pro basketball after graduation and with all of the attention she gets from her looks, I would say she could get into modeling or even television.
There is one other scenario that we could be overlooking. Maybe this is just a quick overreaction after coming off the rebound of another relationship. Anyone know what happened with Stanley Asumnu? One minute those two are a big item around campus and next thing we know she’s engaged to someone else? Sounds like desperation right? Anything is possible.
Come to think of it, maybe she has a thing for weird looking basketball players. I always have been a big Stanley Asumnu supporter and I’ve even met and talked to him in person. Stanley is a great guy, but let’s face it, he is not exactly Denzel. Maybe there is a pattern to this madness after all.
Another thing that comes to my mind about this engagement is recruiting. I have heard of male athletes wanting to come on campus just to meet Candace. They want to come to Tennessee to have their shot to impress the “basketball goddess“. Could this adversely affect our recruiting in both football and basketball? I don’t think so either but it’s not going to help us any.
It’s not just high school athletes that are upset by this. It seems half the population is crushed from hearing this news. There are articles and blogs about this all over the internet. Has there ever been a women’s basketball player that received this much attention for not only her play on the court but also her looks? I realize that Candace is a pretty hot topic (pun intended) around Knoxville, but I have to admit that I am in awe at the amount of interest that she generates around the country. Just looking at the statistics for VolNation, the number of internet searches that include Candace’s name is mind boggling.
All is not lost. Candace Parker is only 21 years old and the wedding is not supposed to take place until after she graduates from the University of Tennessee. That’s a long time and a lot of things can happen between now and then so don’t give up hope, don’t lose the faith. There is still time for her to come to her senses.

I know that Candace will not read this because she is way too busy but im just going to say this..
i want to play d1 ball..where im from we dont get much recruiters or anything.. but to put it out there. I’ve been playing the game since i was 3rd grade.. i played on 5th and 6th, when i was a 5& 6th i played with 7n8.. when i was a 7n8th grader, i played with my high schools varsity.. i never played JV because only mediocre players play on that level…I average 18 points a game. Which I am Shooting Guard/forward. I am only 5′4 & only a freshmen but I love challenges!! I can dribble the ball like no other.. if you know what i mean.. =] Watch out for my team because we are going to State this year..

I go to the school that Juan Smith attended when he was my age and I love it my coach is awesome and I love playing basketball. I am your biggest fan!!!!!!! In all my years I never gave a rat’s buttocks about basketball, let alone college basketball, let let alone women’s college basketball. Then I saw Candace Parker not more than 5 days ago and have been following Tennessee’s exploits ever since. She is just too friggin’ cute. Absolutely adorable.
And I agree about the engaged thing. I’m 54, married 24 years, absolutely no chance of getting with her or wanting to, but it is a kick in the groin hearing that she’s taking herself off the market nonetheless.

hey Nigia again. I finally got to see you play you came down to play the georgia bulldogs. You probrably heard my friend yell out “can i get a dunk”. That wasnt me but i was one of the people that every time you went in or came out the locker room my hand was out. I counted how many times you gave me a high five it was 5 times. I got an autograph from Pat Summit but i really wanted yours.That would have made my day. I will watch every LA Sparks game that comes on. Hey now y’all…I met Candace on a flight from Portland last week and she was with her fiance. They are a really nice looking couple, and c’mon, they guy is definitely not in the Sam Cassell category of looks (although I’m sure Mr. Cassell is a nice guy too). The action photos don’t do his looks justice; in person I can see why he would be considered a handsome man. (and that’s the final word from a straight guy who not jealous! OK?)
They come across as real folks, not hollywood, humble superstars that really appeal to real people. As a Stanford grad, I was rooting for my girls, but after watching the LSU game along with the final, I, my wife, and my daughters have become lifetime Candace Parker (and yes, also Tennesee) fans. Congratulations to Candace and the lady Vols. And, thanks for putting up with my teasing at the airport…You’re a class act and we wish you the very best in the WNBA as well as with your future together with Sheldon Williams. You go girl!

We have printed off everything we can about her life. We are 9 years old and play basketball. We are good and my grandmother thinks so as well.
