How good is Cal really? All I keep hearing about is how great this team is. These guys are really getting a lot of media attention this preseason.
That seems to be one of the biggest questions on the minds of Vol fans heading into the season opener with California next weekend. Even Coach Fulmer has acknowledged that depth is a major concern.
I spent my Friday night at Maryville High School checking out some of the local talent in the annual Blount County rivalry. I got there about an hour and a half before kickoff and was still unable to find a seat.
It’s an interesting read that vaults Fulmer and Miami’s Larry Coker to the top of the list of coaches whose jobs are on the line. The article notes that no coach that has led a team to a final number one ranking during his career has been fired by that team.
Walk on senior Michael Frogg will be the starting center for the University of Tennessee to open the 2006 season.
I heard this Fulmer interview on Sports Talk today and thought I would summarize Fulmer’s comments. Some were very interesting.
Tennessee has picked up their 11th commitment for the 2007 recruiting class. C.J. Fleming (5-11 175, 4.4 40) from Highland Springs High School in Richmond, Virginia has decided that he wants to be a Volunteer.
Tennessee has some depth at receiver this year. You wouldn’t think it would be likely that a true freshman could get on the field.
I think most fans were holding their breath today waiting to see if Erik Ainge would bounce back from the somewhat suspect performance he had in last weeks scrimmage. Feel free to exhale at any time.
The University of Tennessee has realeased the Tennessee Lady Volunteer basketball schedule for 2006-2007.
