Aberdeen, MS.- Aberdeen high standout Channing Ward has already had an active early recruitment. Although the defensive end star is part of the 2012 class, he has already drawn the attention of several top colleges. This summer he was able to take a few visits and see a few top schools in the southeast region.

“I have been to Tennessee, Ole Miss, Alabama, Kentucky, and LSU. I like all of them about the same. All of those schools have offered, and Southern Miss has offered also. They are all recruiting me for defensive end and outside line backer depending on their defense.”

While Ward was able to visit several schools, he mentioned that one stood out above the rest.

“LSU has great coaches and really felt like home. That was a school that stood out, they caught my eye early. Tennessee was a pretty good visit, I like the coaches there. Alabama had some great facilities. After my junior season I’m headed down to Florida when they play Ole Miss. I’m just looking for a place with a good environment, a place that feels like home, a great football program.”

Ward is already 6’4″ 230 pounds as he enters his junior season. He’s got a lot of tools that top coaches already have their eye on.

“Coaches like my speed, they say I’m real fast. They also tell me I have good footwork. They like me rushing after the quarterback. I’m just going to take the process slow, I’m in no hurry at all.”

In closing he mentioned that he grew up a fan of “Da U”, University of Miami. He would like to hear more from them as the process continues.
