Loften heading to USC this weekend

in Tennessee Vols Football Recruiting

Just a few days ago VolNation.com caught up with Eddrick Loften (Irving, TX/Nimitz HS) about his official visit to Tennessee the previous weekend and then a in home visit from the coaching staff with head coach Derek Dooley and then coach Willie Mack Garza.

“Yes sir I committed to Tennessee this past Saturday morning,” says Loften. “I felt like it was right and that I was ready to be a Volunteer.”

“I called the new secondary coach, Terry Joseph, to give him the news that I committed and he was really excited. He gave the phone to coach Dooley and he too was really excited.”

Loften is a Vol but with Garza moving to USC things have changed slightly says Loften.

“I canceled my visits to Kansas State and Texas AM because I committed to Tennessee but just before you and I talked coaches from USC gave me a call and asked me to come out to USC for an official visit this weekend.”

Loften will head to USC to check out the campus at USC and see what USC is all about but still wants to make it known he’s committed to Tennessee.

“I don’t really know much about USC besides the history part of being a good football team,” explained Loften. “I am going out there to check it out, see what coach Garza has out at USC and learn and compare. I am still a Volunteer but I just want to check out USC.”

Loften credited his relationship with Garza to be a big reason he’s checking out USC.

“Coach Garza gave me a call and asked if I was interested and because I’ve gotten to know him so well and he’s such a great coach I felt it was needed to give them a shot.”

Loften will check out USC this weekend and when his official visit is wrapped up VolNation.com will check in with him to see his status with Tennessee.

I thought USC was just overloaded with recruits, with almost a full compliment of verbals with still a lot of others that were rumored to be leaning heavily toward them. What is up? Is Kiffin now so PO’d at UT that he wants to try to pull every recruit that we (UT) seem to be recruiting and expressing interest in? It seems that after every update I recieve about UT wanting and recruiting heavy, it’s not 12hrs. I get another on the same person with USC going after him. I know it’s not illegal for Kiffin to do this but it’s very ironic that our needs seeem to coincide with USC’s needs FOR THE VERY SAME PERSON. I wonder how Kiffin and “O” feel inside. Must be really eating at them. Also, do these recruits not realize what USC might be facing with the NCAA and still jumping to go there? Surely they and more especially their parents read background on this type of stuff before comitting to them (USC). They don’t seeem to be worried about possible sanctions, NO TV, bowls, etc. It sure seemed to cause worry and de-comits when we got so many minor violations, and with what’s been publicised (speling?) about USC.
It doesn’t seem to be making a lot of difference to CDD though. He just keeps bringing them in!
GO VOLS!!!!

Kiffin is definately a “PILL”.. He seems like all he wants is drama for himself and to keep his face in the spotlight. He says he doesn’t want to take the Vols already committed, but yet he is calling every single one of them and try to take them to USC.. I think Kiffin is “WRONG” for doing this and the NCAA should step in and throughly check into what Kiffin is doing. He needs to leave the committs for the Vols alone..
