With Lane Kiffin and his connections to west coast recruits it should be no surprise by now that the Tennessee football team will use those connections to find talent and bring it back east. One player that is a very high target for the Tennessee Volunteers is Dietrich Riley (La Canada, CA/St. Francis) who is a Under Armour All-American athlete and becoming one of the biggest names left in the recruiting game.
Riley fresh off a battle that featured two of the nations top athletes in Riley and Palmdale’s Joshua Shaw VolNation.com caught up with Riley to talk about his recruiting and where he currently stands.
“Right now I am down to Florida, USC, Notre Dame, and Tennessee,” said Riley.
Riley previously took in official visits to Tennessee and Notre Dame and this past weekend he was on hand for the UCLA-USC game to check out UCLA and USC.
Riley told ESPN’s West Coast Blogger Greg Biggins about that visit.
“To be honest, I almost left in the second quarter because it was so boring but the ending sure packed some excitement. If you’re UCLA and you’re down late like that and the other team takes a knee, just let the game finish, don’t call a time out. As soon as they did that, all of the recruits in our section were calling it and saying SC is going to go deep on them and that’s just what they did,” said Riley.
While VolNation.com has been in contact with Riley he’s always kept the stance he is still open and to this date he remains open.
The Vols hope to make a push to the top with a coaches in home visit with Riley set for tonight.
“Yes, I am getting a visit from the Vols coaching staff,” stated Riley. “I am pretty excited for it and we will see what happens.”
Riley continues to hold true to the belief that he will commit when he’s ready and.
When Riley is done with his visit from Tennessee VolNation.com will check in to see how the visit went.
