Kenny Stills (Carlsbad, CA/La Costa Canyon HS) has offers from both coasts and many schools in between. Stills reports offers ranging close to 20 and through all those offers Stills has a select few on his mind. VolNation caught up with this talented 6’2 175 pound wide out with 4.4 speed to see if Tennessee is a school within his list.
“Right now I am sort of focusing in on Oklahoma, Florida, Penn State, Tennessee, LSU, Oregon, Colorado, Notre Dame, and Michigan,” said Stills. “I have visits set up with Florida (Nov 28th), Oklahoma (Nov 13th), and Penn State(Nov 11th). For my other two visits I am still deciding on who to check out. That said I won’t be visiting schools in California for sure as I could take an unofficial if I wanted. I also checked out Oregon in the past so I am leaning to going to schools I haven’t been to. Tennessee, LSU, and also Oregon are the three main schools I am looking at for my final two.”
With Tennessee as a possible school of choice for an official visit Stills went into detail about what makes Tennessee a possible option.
“While back they had some really good wide receivers who went there and I like that history,” said Stills. “Tradition is big for me and I thought I read somewhere that Tennessee is Wide Out U and that makes me interested in what they can offer for me and how I can get better at wide receiver. The fact that Tennessee is in the SEC and I could play in front of 100,000 people really excites me as well. The school is located in the south and living there would be a big change to my life and I am looking for a big change to grow as a person.”
Another fact that has Tennessee listed in Stills group of schools he wants to visit is because he’s never been to Knoxville, TN.
“I have never been to Tennessee, and that is something that really gets me interested,” said Stills. “I’ve never been to Penn State or Florida either. Going to a place I have never been, seeing something new and exciting, that just sounds really appealing to me right now. Getting away and experiencing life in a new place.”
While he is interested in Tennessee and all they have to offer Stills gave VolNation a checklist he has within his mind of things to look for in all the colleges he’s looking at right now.
“Right now I am looking for playing time first of all,” said Stills. “I am also looking where I can play in front of a big crowd, a school with tradition, a college town, a new life style that is different than ‘Cali’.”
With visits set and more being worked out Stills informed VolNation of his plans for deciding when he will commit.
“Well this I am going to decide when I feel its right but I won’t announce anything public until after my Florida visit,” said Stills. “I don’t want to take any visits after November and I am going to announce during the first week of December. If I find the school before that I will let the coaches know but I won’t announce it till December.”
VolNation would like to thank Kenny Stills for his time and would also like to wish him good luck on his upcoming season as he tries to bring a second division title to his school and also break the San Diego area record for receiving yards in a career.
